A basketball officiating school for new officials will be held by IAABO Board 150 at Presque Isle High School beginning Sept. 27. The class will be held Mondays from 7-9 p.m. and the fee is $40. Contact Harry Orser at 425-4451 or visit the website www.iaabo150.org for more information.
Youth hockey season begins soon with registration scheduled for this Sunday, Sept. 19 from 1-4 p.m. at the Forum in Presque Isle. For boys and girls of all ages in central and northern Aroostook County, youth hockey is a great way to keep active all winter long. Ice goes into the Forum in mid-October and practices begin shortly thereafter.
Some gear is available through the youth hockey association. For more information, call the Forum at 764-0491.
The Presque Isle Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Josh Allen and Kayla Richards for being selected as athletes of the week for the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 6.
Allen had four goals and two assists to lead the boys varsity soccer team to wins over Caribou and Old Town.
Richards’ defensive effort helped the girls varsity soccer team to a hard fought 0-0 tie with Old Town.
Student athletes selected as athletes of the week receive a one-item large pizza.
