Seniors hold meeting

    The Star City Seniors met Sept. 9 at the Methodist Church on Fleetwood St. in Presque Isle for their regular meeting and potluck luncheon.
    There were 24 members and two guests. 

    Cindy Bomar of Easton was the guest of her mother, Irene Whittaker of Perham. Lucille Larson was guest of Donald and Donna Devoe of Presque Isle.
    President Devoe welcomed all members and guests to the club. Donald Devoe gave the blessing of the food, which the seniors enjoyed.
    After lunch, President Devoe opened the business meeting with prayer, flag salute and one verse of “America.”
    The American Red Cross Disaster Fund will be having a whoopie pie sale on Sept. 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 31 Thomas Ave. in Caribou. For further information, please contact Cindy Bomar at 488-6181.
    Also the Presque Isle seniors will be going on a bus trip to Grammy’s Country Inn Restaurant in Linneus on Sept. 22, leaving the church parking lot at 9 a.m. with lunch at approximately noontime. After lunch, we’ll visit the Amish Store. For more information, call Donna Devoe at 764-5656.
    The next meeting will be a potluck and then bingo. Also Sept. 30, we will have as a guest, Presque Isle city manager, Jim Bennett.
    There were no secretary’s or treasurer’s reports due to an auction.
    Donald Devoe was the auctioneer and Donna Devoe was the walker.
    Birthdays for September: Shirley True, Willetta Gaston, Marilyn Tardie and Jean Easler – no anniversaries.
