PRESQUE ISLE — A local woman sustained minor injuries Tuesday morning when her vehicle was rear-ended by a dump truck as she waited for a red light at the intersection of Main Street and the Aroostook Centre Mall entrance.

A DUMP TRUCK driven by Eddie Bishop of Caribou rear-ended an SUV driven by Lori Hart of Presque Isle, as Hart waited for a red light in the southbound lane at the intersection of Main Street and the Aroostook Centre Mall entrance on Tuesday. Here, emergency personnel from the PIFD, PIPD and Crown Ambulance assist Hart at the scene.
The Presque Isle Police Department was notified of the accident at approximately 9:02 a.m.
“Lori Hart, 37, of Presque Isle, was southbound on Main Street in her 2008 Toyota Sequoia when she was hit from behind by a dump truck being driven by Eddie Bishop, 54, of Caribou,” said Kevin Reed, investigating officer with the PIPD.
According to Reed, Bishop was southbound operating a dump truck owned by Dragon Products Co. of Presque Isle.
“Bishop said he didn’t see the vehicle legally stopped at the red light in front of him. He attempted to stop but was unable to and rear-ended Hart’s SUV,” said Reed.
Hart sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment. Bishop was uninjured. Both drivers were traveling alone at the time of the accident.
“Hart’s vehicle sustained between $5,000 and $8,000 in damage but was able to be driven from the scene. The dump truck sustained about $200 in damage to the bumper,” said Reed.
Sgt. Joey Seeley, PIPD, provided assistance with traffic. The Presque Isle Fire Department also responded to assist.
