To the editor:
Celebrate Recovery, Houlton’s Christ-based 12-step recovery program from life’s hurts, hang-ups and habits, would like to thank Friends of Aroostook and its leader, Dale Flewelling, for supporting its efforts to turn around lives in this area. This spring, Dale encouraged us to join him in supplying fresh vegetables for families struggling during this economic slow down.
By providing work for those recovering from addictions and pain, God opened a door for us out on Dave Winship’s farm. We have been blessed by outstanding success in the garden. We had more zucchini, cucumbers, acorn squash, and green beans than we anticipated and were able to help not only our participants, but also area families in need.
We also learned a most valuable life lesson. God does not expect to meet us halfway. Rather, if we can do just a little on the road to recovery, He will carry us through. By trusting in Him, 95 percent of the work in producing a bumper crop was already done before the first seed was ever planted. We will praise Him forever for the lives He has changed this summer.
Thanks, Dale and friends! Thank you, D.A. Winship and family. But most of all, thank you God, for blessing us all.
