Rec soccer begins in Caribou

Premier League (Grades 3 and 4)

In a matchup between the Revolution and the Metrostars, the Revs started out hot by scoring three first-half goals. Two were by Gabe Rand, both assisted by Kassie Krul, and the other was tallied by Krul off a Rand assist.

In the second half, Kaylyn Krul scored a goal, assisted by Rand, while her older sister scored a second goal unassisted. The Revs played great defense the entire game, led by Riley McNeal, Brandon Jalbert and Tyler Shade.

Brooke Haney scored off a Theo Strid assist for the Metrostars’ only goal of the game. Parker Deprey and Hayden Hunter played well in the midfield for the Metrostars, while Tiernan Barbosa anchored the defense. Ghent Durepo showed some real toughness in goal for the Stars. Willow Whitten displayed good skills with the ball, while Benjamin Burgess showed good hustle.  

The Fire and the Rapids squared off, with Team Fire led by Sebastian Marquis with two unassisted goals in the first half. Dagan Savage hooked up with a Zach Gerakaris to put a ball in the back of the net. Savage and Marquis both found the net in the second half to add to the team tally. Jacob Soucy had some great defensive plays while Bryce Bonville and Gerakaris both played well in goal.  

The Rapids’ Austin Findlen displayed incredible goalie skills with almost a dozen saves in two quarters of play. Brianna Cantin showed a complete lack of fear as she was very aggressive and showed lots of hustle. Alex Ezzy scored a “hat trick” in the game with assists from Austin Findlen and Cheyenne Cormier.    

The Rapids gave a great team effort in the game against the Revolution, with many players in new positions. The goalies for the Rapids had many great saves. Mackenna Smith had one, Brandon Belanger three and Austin Findlen two. The Rapids defense was very active the entire game.

Team Revolution had many names in the scoring column in this contest. Kaylyn Krul had two goals and an assist, Kassie Krul had three goals, Rand three goals and two assists, Riley McNeal one goal, Jarred Jones one assist and Jalbert one assist. Shade and Alexis Rodriguez both had great shots on goal as well.   

The Fire took on a tough Galaxy team and played very well. Emily Austin hooked up with a Savage pass to score a goal in the second half of play. Gerakaris and Brennan Poitras split time in goal and played the position very tough.     

Alex Bouchard scored a “hat trick” for Team Galaxy, while Seth Roy put two in the back of the net.  Owen McQuarrie also found himself in the scoring column with a goal. Assists were given to Cullin Caverhill, Jasmine Olsen and Elsie Patton. The team played great for their first game with a dynamic attack and ferocious defense.

World League (Grades 5 and 6)

In the opening game of the 2010 Caribou Rec Soccer fifth and sixth grade division, Liverpool and Manchester United battled to a 2-2 tie. For Liverpool, Nic Sleeper scored two goals and outstanding defense was played by Hope Shea and Cole Jackson. 

Manchester United’s Kyle Soetarte-Beaulier and Noah Heidorn each scored a goal and each fed each other with an assist. Manchester United played their positions well. Alyssa Saucier played great in her first-ever game. Both teams played well with great passing.

Arsenal  took on Chelsea and in the first quarter, Arsenals’ Evan Desmond scored a goal with an assist from Josiah Krul. Krul added two goals of his own in the same quarter. During the second quarter, Dylan Bonville scored another goal for Arsenal with Hannah MacDonald and Sheridan Blackstone each having great scoring opportunities. Strong defense led by Krul and Trey Taylor kept Chelsea at bay with strong goalkeeping from Kerrigan Manter and Hunter Jackson.

In the third quarter, Taylor added to the Arsenal tally with a goal after several scoring attempts. Strong defense from Taylor and several saves in goal from Evan Desmond kept the Chelsea team from scoring. In the final quarter, the entire team worked together to keep the ball at the far end of the field, with Krul adding to the team tally one more time.

Strong passing, defense and ball handling from the entire team led by Hannah MacDonald, Maddie Doucette and Erin Randall set the tone for the entire game. Krul, Taylor and Desmond played well both on offense and defense to lead the Arsenal team.

It was a tough first and second period for Chelsea playing for the first time together, but the team came back with outstanding defense and great goalie performances by Connor Plourde and Hunter Lindsey in the third and fourth periods with three shots on goal.

The Chelsea defense, which included Kara Madore, Ashley Matlock, Paige O’Bar, Gabrielle Marquis, Sierra Ouellette, Anya O’Mara, Daniel Randolph, Zach Whitten, Noah Frost, Matt Nadeau and Austin Cheplic, all played well together.

Chelsea’s Austin Cheplic and Ashley Matlock each scored two goals apiece with Matlock picking up three assists against Liverpool. Connor Plourde also found the net in this game. Gabrielle Marquis assisted on one of Matlock’s goals.

Chelsea played great defense and offense all four periods. Good defense was played by Noah Frost, Matt Nadeau, Sierra Ouellette, Paige O’Bar, Kara Madore, Gabrielle Marquis Hunter Lindsey, Daniel Randolph, Anya O’Mara and Austin Cheplic.

Connor Plourde, Daniel Randolph and Zach Whitten played great defense at the goalie position as well.

Liverpool was led by two goals from Nic Sleeper off assists from Jillian Jandreau and Alec Cyr. Zoe Gerakaris played strong defense in her role as sweeper for Team Liverpool.    

In the first quarter of the game between Manchester U and Arsenal, both teams moved the ball well with Maddie Doucette and Josiah Krul having scoring opportunities. Trey Taylor made several saves in goal. In the second quarter, Krul scored the first goal for Arsenal. Kyra Thibeault provided solid defense for the team and Kerrigan Manter had a save in goal.

In the third quarter, both teams played well with several scoring drives. Thibeault and Taylor played solid defense keeping the Manchester team at bay. In the final quarter, Josiah Krul provided two more goals for the Arsenal team. Hunter Jackson helped keep the Manchester team at bay with several saves in goal.

It was a well played game with both teams passing the ball with skill and accuracy. The heat of the night ignited into a hot competition of these well-matched teams. Krul provided leadership at both ends of the field for the Arsenal team. Dawson Hebert played excellent in goal for the Manchester team, keeping Arsenal from running up the score.

Manchester United had an aggressive offense much of the game. Camden Huck and Bailey Griffeth played great with a few good scoring opportunities, but could not slip one past the goal line. Kyle Soetarte-Beaulier scored an unassisted goal.
