SILVER RIDGE — On Friday morning, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at the residence of Dominic Frasca on Route 2. Silver Ridge is a small town between Sherman and Macwahoc.
According to police, witnesses reported that Frasca, 52, had threatened his girlfriend’s adult daughter with physical harm. Deputies made sure that everyone in the home was safe, and while investigating the complaint discovered approximately 50 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. The majority of the plants were growing inside the residence, while some had been moved outside. Deputies also seized a loaded 12-gauge shotgun from the home. Frasca is believed to be prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior felony conviction.
Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency were called to assist in processing the crime scene. Frasca was arrested and charged with criminal threatening, aggravated cultivation of marijuana and prohibited possession of a firearm.
Frasca, who is from New York and has only lived in Maine since this spring, was taken to the Aroostook County jail where bail was set at $2,250.
“Deputies still have some work to do to tie up loose ends on this case, and that should not take too long,” Sheriff James Madore said. “We are very pleased no one in the home was hurt.”
The Sheriff’s Office takes domestic violence and related criminal activity seriously. Earlier this year, Sheriff Madore announced that funding had been obtained to continue the department’s domestic violence detective’s position. This detective and the department in general closely coordinate their efforts with area victim advocacy groups.
The Sheriff’s Office is also proud of its commitment to drug enforcement efforts in Aroostook County. Currently, the department has a lieutenant, a sergeant and a deputy assigned full-time to the state task force to carry out drug investigations. These partnerships and the cooperation they produce, hopefully make the citizens of Aroostook County safer in the long run, Madore said.
