Gertrude, an adult female with a Maine coon look, was found wandering on the Access Highway in Caribou and is now living in a Halfway Home Pet Rescue foster home. She has had a vet checkup, leukemia testing, shots and worming and was treated for parasites. If this is anyone’s pet, they are asked to bring proof of ownership including photos and previous vet record. Gertrude will be placed up for adoption on Friday, Sept. 12. HHPR is in need of Purina Kitten Chow, canned food and clay-based kitten litter (non-scoop-able please). Adult volunteers are needed to work 2-to-3-hour shifts at Toby’s Treasures Gift Store. Halfway Home is a licensed state animal shelter and a 501c3 organization which works to help stray, abandoned and abused cats. Bottles returned at 88 Bennett Drive Redemption and spare change donated in area business collection jars are greatly appreciated. For more information go to Petfinder.com or at www.halfwayhomepetrescue.org  or call 492-1722. Donations may be sent to Halfway Home Pet Rescue, Inc.,  P.O. Box 488, Caribou, ME  04736.
