DAV mobile office plans County stops

Veterans looking for straight answers about their rights and benefits earned through service to their country will have a chance to obtain free, professional service with claims when a fully-equipped DAV National Service Office on wheels makes stops in Houlton and Presque Isle later this month.
“A DAV national service officer (NSO) — rigorously and professionally schooled in the full range of benefits for military veterans and retirees — will provide the best counseling and claim filing assistances veterans can get from any source, anywhere,” said Arthur H. Wilson, national adjutant.
Wilson said because the DAV is a nonprofit organization dedicated solely to serving veterans of all ages.
“Our NSO has only one goal: making sure you get all the benefits and services you earned. Considering veterans part of the Harley-Davidson family, the company’s foundation shares this goal. The help offered under the Harley’s Heroes Tour is completely free, just like all DAV services to veterans and their families,” he said.
Although DAV membership is not required, Wilson said veterans seeking assistance should bring certain documentation with them to help speed up the process.
“When you come to the DAV Mobile Service Office location, bring your claim number, Social Security number and any other pertinent documentation,” he said.
The DAV is dedicated to serving those who’ve served their country.
“The Disabled American Veterans builds better lives for all our nation’s disabled veterans and their families. We look forward to seeing you and serving you,” said Wilson.
The mobile unit will be at the following locations on the specified dates: Houlton Wal-Mart from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 14 and the Presque Isle Wal-Mart from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 16.
