On Friday, Sept. 17, residents of Caribou and surrounding communities will welcome, Birdie Goodins aka the ‘Marden’s Lady’ on stage at the Caribou Performing Arts Center.
The evening event, sponsored by the Caribou Historical Society, will begin at 7 p.m. as the Wednesday Night Fiddlers, of Perth, N.B., under the direction of Gerald Hanson, take to the stage playing their irresistible, toe-tapping, extremely contagious music, setting the mood for the Maine humor of Birdie Googins.
Described as “fabulously popular, superbly glamorous, always making a cutting edge fashion statement, Birdie Googins is also a well known and respected, ‘unregistered Maine Guide,’ who receives rave reviews from outdoor sportsmen.”
According to Joe Bouchard, president of the Caribou Historical Society, “Some people have said, “We laughed until we cried and then we laughed some more.’” It is also said her interaction with the audience is a true testimony of her antics that will appeal to all ages — her sell-out shows create a wonderful evening of laughter.
Proceeds from the Sept. 17 performances will assist the Historical Society in completing their barn project which will house some of the larger historical items donated to the museum.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door and may be purchased at the following locations: The Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Caribou One-Stop; Caribou Food Trend; Ezzy’s Music Shop, Van Buren; Harvest Market in Fort Fairfield and at the Aroostook Centre Mall in Presque Isle.
