Balloon Fest
keeps growing every year
To the editor:
On behalf of the Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce, I would like to thank the many groups, clubs, businesses and volunteers who worked so hard to make this year’s Crown of Maine Balloon Fest a great success.
The purpose of the Balloon Fest is to attract people to the area while at the same time offering a unique experience to area residents. I know that this year’s event succeeded in both.
The Crown of Maine Balloon Fest Committee, chaired for the past number of years by Derik Smith, works hard all year raising funds and making arrangements for the festival that is scheduled for four days. Due to the fabulous flying conditions in this area the balloonists traditionally arrive before the festival dates and stay in the area for a few days after.
The reputation of the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest is growing and I know that future years will see additional tourists in the area for this event.
As we grow we will need the involvement of more groups like the Presque Isle Elks and Kiwanis clubs and Presque Isle High School Varsity Club, who have hosted specific events as part of the festival. Please consider joining us. There are opportunities for your group to raise funds.
