HOULTON — Due to the hot, dry weather, Houlton Elementary School Principal Candy Crane is asking parents to make sure children dress as comfortably as possible.
In an effort to keep the children hydrated, Crane suggests that parents have their children bring a bottle of water to school which can be refilled from the water fountains.
Students can also purchase a bottle of water for a quarter at school and refill them. Crane emphasized that parents should not have children bring Gatorade, soda or any “sweet beverages that can be loaded with sugar.”
“We have toned down physical activity in the gym but it will continue,” said Crane, who added that recess will also continue. So far, there have been no early dismissals due to weather.
