Caribou needs local Council candidates with LePage-like qualities

To the editor:

I had the occasion to go to a Paul LePage introductory function at the Caribou Motor Inn to meet and get his point of view of what his take is on present day government in the state of Maine. He fielded a lot of questions and provided common sense answers on what he would do to create a better environment in our state relative to taxes, jobs, and corrective measures that should be taken if he becomes the governor of the Maine.

Paul LePage is a one-of-a-kind gentleman, an astute businessman and a no nonsense kind of guy who will apply a common sense approach to the Maine government machine. You can rest assured that it will be well oiled and smooth running if he is elected and left to do his job.

On the local side of the issues pertaining to our fair city all is to quiet on the western front. Not to much on the street about who’s running for the two available council seats. Come on folks let’s get some good people to step up to the plate or we’ll end up with the same old regime who get lost on the way to the council meetings and least of all come up with some original ideas to save the local taxpayers some money. These same councilors still haven’t realized that the welfare system (money from the state of Maine and the federal government) that was supposed to keep property taxes within a community is over. They’re both broke and the feds can’t continue printing useless paper (money) forever.

We all need to start living within our means. Our current local government also needs some no nonsense individuals with common sense that can heal the tax cancer that’s eating into our future savings that we all need for our retirement years to survive. Not all of us work for the government with Cadillac pensions and (welfare) insurance plans.
