Service and honesty come first at Leos & Sons Citgo, Inc.

Honesty is the secret to staying in business in this area, according to the owners of Leo & Sons Citgo Inc., located at 532 Maine St. in Caribou.

That can be especially true when the business involved cars and their maintenance and repair.

Over the years, brothers Dale and Scott St. Peter have maintained that honesty is the key to maintaining a good relationship with the motoring public.

“Customer service is the most important thing,” said Dale St. Peter. “We treat people the way we would like to be treated.”

Leo’s was started 35 years ago by Leo and Jeannette St. Peter and is now operated by the St. Peter brothers. They have five full-time employees.

St. Peter said that if a car needs a certain repair or engine work, the job is really needed.

“We don’t do something you don’t need,” he said.

One feature the service station offers is Fast Lube, a Citgo program, which is a process that every vehicle should have every 3,000 miles or every three months.

“Keeping fresh oil in your vehicle will make it last longer and cut down on the car’s wear,” St. Peter explained.

Checking the car over during a Fast Lube takes about 30 minutes; during that time, the oil and oil filter is changed. Other fluid levels in the car — transmission, windshield washer, break fluids and antifreeze — are also examined and replenished if necessary. After toping off all the liquids that keep a car running smoothing, Leo’s mechanics check air levels in the tires to ensure proper tire pressure.

In addition to the engine maintenance facet of the family owned shop, Leo’s sells three grades of Citgo gasoline and also offers diesel fuel as well as kerosene.

Leo’s is open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday. The service station is open from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday.
