WHERE’S THE BEEF?

    The 4-H Baby Beef Show and Auction were held Aug. 4 and 5, respectively, at the Northern Maine Fair & Music Festival. Patricia Donovan of Blaine earned the title of Grand Champion, while Amanda Hotham of Fort Fairfield was named Reserve Champion. Patricia’s 1,375-pound, Maine Anjou steer, Chip, fetched $4 a pound. Lockwood Manufacturing was the top bidder. Amanda’s 1,335-pound, Maine Anjou-cross steer, One-Eyed Jack, went for $3.10 a pound. Acadia Medical Supply was the high bidder. Proudly displaying their steers are, from left: Patricia Donovan, daughter of Harry and Candace Donovan, and Amanda Hotham, daughter of Nathan and Beth Hotham. The Aroostook Valley 4-H Baby Beef Club is led by Bruce and Lauri Buck.
