A MORNING ACCIDENT near the Aroostook Centre Mall Aug. 16 sent Kathleen White, of Washburn, and David Butler, of Fort Fairfield, to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The accident occurred at the intersection of Main and Maysville streets and was investigated by the Presque Isle Police Department.

“Kathleen White, 68, of Washburn, was traveling north on Main Street approaching the intersection, driving a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck. David Butler, 52, of Fort Fairfield, was traveling east on the Connector Road operating a 1997 GMC pick-up truck with an attached 2005 utility trailer as he attempted to cross Main Street,” explained Seeley.
According to Seeley, White did not notice that her traffic light had turned red until she had entered the intersection and could not stop prior to striking the side of Butler’s vehicle.
“Both operators were wearing seatbelts and received non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment,” said Seeley.
Seeley said the injuries would have been a lot worse if it were not for the use of seatbelts in this collision.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene of the accident. Cowett’s Towing was called to pick up Butler’s truck, while Jerry’s was called to remove White’s.
    No charges are pending.
Assisting at the scene were Investigator Stephanie Beaulieu of the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles and members of the Presque Isle Fire Department.
