County Open half-marathon Saturday

For the second year in a row, Island Falls will be the host of The County Open half-marathon, starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the Island Falls Municipal Building. The race is a fund-raiser for the Health Services Foundation.
The race has been held in New Limerick prior to last year.
Participants in the half-marathon may also run as a relay of either two or four people. Runners may sign up the day of the race prior to 7:45 a.m. For those who have pre-registered, a packet will be available on race day. There will be $1,000 in cash prizes and more than $2,000 in door prizes from local businesses. The registration is $25 for a half-marathon runner or $15 per participant in the relay.
The course is mostly flat with some rolling hills. It goes along fields, streams, rivers, a lake, and woods. The scenery is worth the run. The race starts and ends at the Island Falls municipal building.
