The American Red Cross and Cary Medical Center’s
“Healthy You” program

THE AMERICAN RED CROSS and Cary Medical Center’s “Healthy You” program hosted the second annual Swim-A-Cross July 24 at the Presque Isle Indoor Pool. Participants collected pledges and had to swim a required minimum number of laps to be considered for prize packages that were awarded to the youth and adult swimmers who collected the highest total of donations. Nearly $1,500 was raised from this year’s event. Pictured are, from left: Joyce Knorr, Aroostook County Branch manager for the American Red Cross-Pine Tree Chapter; Erica Hemphill of Presque Isle, who won the youth prize package which included a 21-speed mountain bike by raising $220; Regine McIntyre of Easton, winner of the adult prize package who collected $207; Ward Silsbee of Caribou, who co-raised the most amount of money in the organization category; Kim Jones, director of “Healthy You”; and Steve Goulet, pool staff. Absent when the photo was taken was John Forbes of Caribou, who along with Silsbee, raised $408 for the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou. The church was able to keep half of the proceeds, while the Red Cross and “Healthy You” shared the other half.
