DIONNE, Douglas P., 86, NATTICK, MASS , July 26, 2010. A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Portage Lake, on Thursday, August 12, at 11 a.m. burial will be at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta at 9 a.m. Friday, August 13. Arrangements are in the care of John C. Everett & Sons Funeral Home, Natick, Mass.
NATTICK, MASS – Douglas P. Dionne, 86, formerly of Yarmouth, ME, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010, at the Tippet Home in Needham, Mass. Born in Gladwyn, New Brunswick, Canada, on June 29, 1924, he was the son of Phillip and Theresa White Dionne.
He was predeceased by his wife, Martha; and his siblings, Mary, Monica, Fred & Charles.
He is survived by two sons, Chuck and his wife Leslie, and Paul and his wife Johnna; one daughter, Maggie and her husband John; four grandchildren, Martine, Andrew, Christopher and Alex; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School and a veteran of WWII, serving in the army in the Pacific. He lived in Ashland for many years and was employed by the Great Northern Paper Co. before moving his family to Yarmouth in 1967. He resided in Yarmouth since and retired from Jordan Milton Machinery Co.
He en-joyed going to camp at Fish Lake in any season whether cutting ice in the winter, fishing in the spring, bird hunting in the fall or telling stories with his friends in the summer. He was an active member of the Amvets and master cribbage player who was always ready to take on newcomers. He was known for putting on grand lobster bakes, spent many hours digging clams, picking fiddleheads and was an avid outdoorsman.
