Volunteers for Visions are driving force

    HOULTON — The Visions Gallery on Main Street has been a great success thanks to the corps of dedicated volunteers.
    Rachel Good is the volunteer coordinator for the agency and works to staff the store during its operating hours. The volunteers work with the artists, they keep the gallery clean and efficient and they help to make the public’s shopping experience a great one. They are all knowledgeable and will help someone find the perfect gift or home décor item. The store is open Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Evenings and other weekend hours can be arranged by calling the gallery.
    The volunteers of the gallery have been the driving force since the store opened six years ago. Volunteers in addition to the store coordinate many of the special events and run some day to day function. Volunteers from the board work on many aspects of the agency to make it run efficiently and are working to expand our services to the community.
    The funds gained through sales at the gallery benefit the artists themselves, all of which are local, and the percentage the gallery retains supports arts and cultural programming in Aroostook County.
    The gallery will start family art classes in late September, restarting our Saturday workshop series and writing group. It also has a full slate of art shows in the Blue Moon Gallery coming also.
    The volunteers help to make all Visions does possible. The gallery volunteers are Rachel Good, Anne Elliot, Dot Fitzpatrick, Laney Lloyd, Lani Lemerise, Joan Blagdon, Leigh Griffith, Perry Coolong, Peg Ryan, Fran Grant, Julia Chapla, and Lois Ward. Also Jane Kuk, Dave Loendorf, Iva Sussman, Pat Hogan, Dale Holden, Joyce Fitzpatrick and Elizabeth Pellitier.
