FESTIVAL FANS — Inside the bright green wagon, a young pig and two young goats were a source of intrigue for the Lewis children who couldn’t resist investigating and trying to pet the animals. Outside the Sherman Area Memorial VFW 2299, Shelby, 8, Sky, 3, and A.J., 6, were among the visitors to the 10th annual Stacyville Strawberry Festival last weekend.  See more photos on page Six.

STACYVILLE — Residents were out Saturday enjoying activities and food at the Sherman Area Memorial VFW Post 2299 after the parade for the second day of the three-day Strawberry Festival, now in its 10th year.
There was a long line constantly leading up to the popular Hot Dog Bus. As James Pratt encouraged bidders to go higher during the auction, some residents munched on fresh homemade popcorn served up by Loretta Waiculonis and children played bean bag toss.
Neighbors signed a card for 11-year-old Allison Botting who remains in a Boston hospital. She, her sister and a family friend were injured by lightning nearly two months ago.
The mobile Vets Bus was on hand to provide information. Inside the VFW Post, a “table for one” was set up with symbolic items to remember prisoners of war and those missing in action.
Clinton Robinson said “the parade went wicked fast this year.” He and his daughter Cassidy Robinson said there were plenty of political signs as they marched with their miniature horse Mocha.
