Deadline nears for
Disabled Veterans Moose Hunt Lottery
AUGUSTA – The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and the Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management are pleased to announce the 2010 Disabled Veterans Moose Hunt Lottery.
The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has allocated five “any-moose” permits for disabled veterans to participate in the controlled moose hunt in Aroostook County. The dates for the hunt are Sept. 16-22, and will occur on farmland in Aroostook County specified by Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
To qualify for the lottery, a veteran must possess a valid resident disabled veteran hunting license issued by the IF&W. All applications will be placed in a lottery and the drawing for the five permits will take place July 23.
The application for the resident disabled veteran moose hunt lottery can be found on the Bureau of Veterans Services website at http://www.maine.gov/dvem/bvs/. Veterans who cannot access the application online can call Maine Veterans’ Services at (207) 626-4464 to receive an application by mail. All applications must be received by Maine Veterans’ Services no later than July 19.
