Go Van Buren launches Alumni Association

VAN BUREN — In an attempt to create some synergy around the concept of Homecoming Weekend, Go Van Buren is hoping to find a core of interested residents interested in forming an Alumni Association. The purpose of an Alumni Association can vary tremendously. A couple of possibilities could include starting a self-sustaining Alumni Scholarship Fund, raising money for a school project or keeping alumni appraised of developments affecting the school and so on.      “We are not as much interested in influencing the activities of the Alumni Association as we are in creating a natural ally who can help us organize future Homecoming Weekends, and help us leverage these events to raise funds for the Alumni Association’s projects and goals,” answered Dr. Paul Vaillancourt when asked why Go Van Buren was interested in an Alumni Association.
Anyone interested in joining or finding out more about an Alumni Association should meet at Robins Restaurant at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening June 17. For more information, questions can be directed to Dr. Paul Vaillancourt at vbbackdoc@myfairpoint.net or by phone at 207-868-5599.
