Like the Good Shepherd Food Bank which provides for those at risk of hunger by distributing surplus food to more that 600 partnering agencies throughout the state, all of the Maine Lions Clubs were asked to partner with the District to help raise $151,000 to purchase and install this back-up generator.
The Caribou Lions Club recently met with and presented Blackstone; Leo Gould, region chairman; and Peter Finkel, zone chairman; with a check in the amount of $1,000 that will assist the District in achieving its goal.
Blackstone stated, “It is with generous donations like this, from the hard work of the Caribou Lions, that the over 140,000 residents (half of whom are children) struggling with hunger on a daily basis in Maine, including the Caribou area, will receive relief.”
The Caribou Lions Club continues to be extremely active in the community and looks forward to adding new members who would like to work on humanitarian projects such as this and fulfill the Lions organization’s motto “We Serve”.
