NEW LIMERICK — The Southern Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District will be holding a gravel road workshop Wednesday, June 23 at the Houlton Community Golf Course clubhouse in New Limerick.
The workshop is being held as part of a grant through the Department of Environmental Protection for erosion control work on Nickerson Lake. It is estimated that camp roads contribute more than 60% of all erosion and sedimentation problems in lakes. The workshop will cover road repair and maintenance practices and will include site visits on roads around Nickerson Lake.
The workshop is free but pre-registration is required. You may register by email at angela.wotton@me.nacdnet.net or phone 532-2087, ext 3. Lunch is on your own or sandwiches and grilled items may be purchased at the Golf Course clubhouse. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the workshop will adjourn at 1:45 p.m. DEP certified contractors attending the workshop will receive re-certification credits.
