    BERNARD HUSSEY of Easton was the grand marshal of this year’s Memorial Day parade in Presque Isle. Hussey served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

    A PRE-MEMORIAL DAY PARADE CEREMONY was held at Fairmount Cemetery on the Houlton Road in Presque Isle where wreaths were laid, “Taps” was played, and prayers were offered. The ceremony and parade was under the direction of the American Legion Ray Goding Post 88.

    PAUL WILSON, commander of the American Legion Ray Goding Post 88, lays a wreath at the Civil War monument at Fairmount Cemetery on the Houlton Road in Presque Isle during a pre-Memorial Day parade ceremony. A service honoring the Naval veterans was also held on the Park Street Bridge where a wreath was thrown into the stream, while another remembrance ceremony was held at the Veteran’s Memorial Park on Main Street following the parade.

    UNDER WAY – Presque Isle’s Memorial Day Parade got under way with perfect weather greeting spectators as parade entries made their way through downtown.

     PAUSING TO REMEMBER – Veterans, friends and family gathered at Memorial Park on Main Street for a ceremony honoring past and present community members who’ve served in the military – some making the ultimate sacrifice to protect the nation and its freedom.
