PRESQUE ISLE – On April 1, Greg Smith, chairman of Maine Potato Growers, Inc., announced the appointment of David Dorsey to its board of directors.

Dorsey, a native of Fort Fairfield, played a major role in the banking community in Aroostook County.
Over his 41-year career, Dorsey held the position of chief executive officer with First National Bank of Aroostook, Depositors Trust Co. of Northern Maine and Key Bank of Northern Maine. Dorsey also was co-founder of First Citizens Bank in 1990, and has served in leadership roles in numerous civic and community organizations in Aroostook County.
Retired since 2004, Dorsey still remains involved in business and the community. Currently, he serves as an adviser to Savings Bank of Maine and is president of the Fort Fairfield Utilities District.
“David brings a wide array of experience, knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit that has guided him through his successful career,” said Smith. “I believe he will be a great and valuable addition to our board.”
Smith noted that Dorsey’s appointment to MPG’s board is a direct result of an amendment to state laws allowing for the election of a non-member director to the board of an agricultural cooperative.
