On May 14, the U.S. Small Business Administration recognized NorState FCU as Maine’s Top Performing Credit Union for the Fiscal Year 2009, and presented them with the District Director Award during the Maine 2010 Small Business Awards luncheon at Le Calumet Club in Augusta. SBA’s District Governor Maurice Dube recognized NorState staff for their efforts in promoting SBA loans and chose them because they were the only credit union in Maine that was producing meaningful numbers and successful applicants. Other award recipients were: Small Business Person of the Year, Trapper R. Clark & Thomas Sturtevant of Alcom Inc., Winslow; Maine Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year Phillip A. Lander, president, Atlantic Defense Co.
