Flags honor local veterans

Members of Washburn’s  American Legion Oscar Dow Post 40 placed approximately 308 flags on area cemetery graves, just in time for Memorial Day. Friends and relatives assisted Legion members in placing flags at the Washburn and Crouseville cemeteries, dividing into groups and completing the work in one day. The Legion performs the service each year as a tribute to those who served their country.

Anyone wishing to order the special military flag holders for the cemeteries from the Oscar Dow Post 40 of the American Legion is asked to contact Kermit Fuller 455-0962 or Larry Harrison 455-4074. The Legion members and volunteer helpers placed the flags on all area cemeteries this past week, and their efforts are appreciated. Anyone wishing their family names added to the list of deceased veterans is asked to contact any Legion member.

Covering the old Riverside Cemetery were Legion members Dale Whitten and Bud Umphrey. Members of Oscar Dow Post 40 of the American Legion in Washburn, joined by friends and family, recently spent time placing flags on the graves of local veterans, just in time for Memorial Day.
