Ivey, Wendell C., 66, May 17, 2010.  Arrangements by Carll, Heald & Black Funeral Home.  Interment to be held in the Evergreen Cemetery, Alfred. Image    ALFRED – Wendell C. Ivey, 66, of Alfred died at his home on Monday, May 17, 2010.
    Wendell was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada on April 7, 1944 to Chester and Letitia (Williams) Ivey. His family moved to Houlton in 1955 where he attended local school, graduating from Houlton High School in 1962 where he was an accomplished baseball player. 
    In 1967 Wendell graduated from Central Maine Medical Center school of nursing and worked at various hospitals around the state including Southern Maine Medical Center, Maine Medical Center, York Hospital and also worked as a medical consultant for A.C.S. He received a Bachelor of Science and Applied Technology degree and a Masters in Business Administration degree from Nasson College and a Doctorate of Science and Nursing Administration from Rockville University. On June 22, 1985 he married Jennifer Hall and the couple spent the next 25 years together.
    Wendell was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed all of the Boston sports teams and watching and playing golf. He loved animals, especially his three cats, Molly, Maggie and Sydney. He liked spending time with his wife and friends in Boothbay Harbor and going camping. Wendell was very good with electronics and enjoyed working with computers. He liked hunting, fishing, and sailing and was a very good cook. He was a member of the United Baptist Church of Saco where he had served on the board of deacons at one time.
    Wendell was a fun loving man. He liked teasing people and pulling practical jokes and was a talented storyteller. He loved children and had a special bond with William, Grace and Danielle Collinson. He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, son, brother and uncle and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
    Wendell was predeceased by his father, Chester Ivey in 2005 and by his father-in-law, Richard Hall in 2007.
    Surviving are his wife, Jennifer Ivey of Alfred; his mother, Letitia Ivey of Houlton; his sister, Carol Blood and her husband Peter of Houlton; his mother-in-law, Harriet Roberts Hall of Alfred; a nephew, Andrew Blood and his wife Melissa of Pembroke, MA; a niece, Kimberly LaLiberte and her husband Mike of Falmouth; a great-nephew, Isaac LaLiberte of Falmouth and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the United States and Canada.
    Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service was held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 21st. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred.
