VOLUNTEERS HONORED

The 2010 Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards Roll of Honor was held on April 22, in Augusta, at the Maine State Museum. The Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards were created in 1988 as a way to recognize volunteerism in Maine. These awards honor our state’s most dedicated volunteers and the service they provide to the citizens of Maine. Maine’s Roll of Honor acknowledges the outstanding contributions of our most distinguished volunteers. The Roll of Honor is reserved for those who have dedicated over 500 hours of service to their communities in the past year. Congratulations to the 778 volunteers from across the state who were named to this year’s Roll of Honor. They have contributed more than 774,206 hours of service. Aroostook RSVP director Eleanor Reese, St. John Valley Coordinator Connie Michaud and two volunteers, Jo Ann Johnson and Richard Bechtel, were present to honor Aroostook RSVP’s 48 volunteers at the ceremony.
