It’s been a rollercoaster year for the Greater Houlton Christian Academy boys baseball team.
“We’ve been up and down all year,” said coach John Walker. “We’ve had all of our starters for one third of our games, which has been challenging, as we are young and lack depth.”
Last Saturday, the Eagles fell behind 4-0 in the third and Shead added seven runs in the fourth to open the game up, as the Eagles lost 20-1 in Danforth.
The Eagles’ Chad Duff and Isaiah Straubel each hit two singles.
“When we pitch well and play the defense, we’ve at times demonstrated we can play with anyone in our class,” said Walker. “However, if we walk too many and allow extra outs, we can’t play with anyone.”
But, Walker and his troops aren’t discouraged and will continue to build.
“That’s why baseball is such a joy,” he said. “On any given day, anything can happen, and usually does.”
