New artists featured at Visions

HOULTON — Visions Gallery on Main Street in Houlton is pleased to bring to the area the works of several news artists. These new artists come to us from both Aroostook County and other parts of Maine.  These new artists bring to the gallery new mediums not before available in the area. This is exciting for all of the gallery’s artists because the new work is helping to promote our other artists as well as putting us on the map for having a vibrant gallery for people from near and far.
The new artists are Tom Cote and Jessica Stackhouse from Limestone. They are both professional wood carvers.  Tom does beautiful wood carved pieces;  he brings to life people and animals.  Jessica does carved wall hangings that truly capture the images like a painting. Both are professional level artists with numerous distinctions in the medium.  Tom is the third generation of a five-generation carving family.
Beckie Kier comes to us from Gray.  She brings to us lovely and unique stained glass pieces both large and small.  Beckie incorporates into her pieces bottles, marbles and vintage glass.  The pieces are each unique and colorful.
Dawn Richard comes to us from lovely Mattawamkeag.  She does quilted wall hangings.  They could also be used for tables or lap quilts.  They are unique designs and versatile.
From Orono, Beth White brings to us hand crafted wood boxes.  She creates small delicate pieces to store jewelry or keepsakes.  Each lid has a small hand carved figure or shape.   She also does some small-carved pieces.
Artists that have been with us a short time, but not formally introduced to the community are Terry Kenney with lovely jewelry pieces crafted from natural stones.  She has bracelets, necklaces and earrings for people with all tastes.  Freda Fontaine has fun needlework cards and other gift items.
We are excited to bring to the community these new artists.  We are also excited to continue to sell works from Frank Sullivan, Bill Duncan, Laney Lloyd, Pat Hogan, Paul Porter and Hank Lemerise to name a few. The gallery now supports and sells the works of 42 Maine artists.  We offer paintings, prints, note cards, bowls, and jewelry to name some of the works available.  Please stop by the shop on Main Street.
The store is continuing to grow and expand the offerings to the community and surrounding area. We look forward to ensuring that our Main Street stays colorful and vibrant.
