Dr. Sussman named to state health board

    AUGUSTA — Maine Health Access Foundation, Maine’s largest statewide health funder has named Dr. Ted Sussman, to its Board of Trustees.

    Dr. Sussman has spent 30 years in private practice Internal Medicine, arriving in Houlton with the National Health Service in 1980.  Dr. Sussman received his MD degree from Tufts University and completed a clinical fellowship in Cardiology at the Mass General Hospital; he has continuously
staffed a FQHC in Washington County as well as his own practice.
    Dr. Sussman has been active in the American College of Physicians and served as Governor for Maine for the association from 2002-2006. He has been a longstanding board member of the Houlton Regional Hospital and has been active in Quality Assurance and Special Care committees over many years, with experience in the unique challenges of practicing medicine in rural communities.
    He is Medical Director of the Houlton Area Hospice Program and has been an active teacher of medical students and residents through the Maine Practice Network. For the past five years he has traveled to Cambodia to teach at the Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE.
