ON DISPLAY — Among the photos selected for exhibition at Inland Hospital’s Healing Art Gallery are these scenic photos taken by Cynthia Irish of Sherman. Irish is a senior at Katahdin Area High School. Below is a photo of a bee in a flower.
The hospital’s website describes her work as “the product of her love of photography” which “uses the earth as a canvas to display her talent. Irish’s goal is to depict beauty and life from all things she photographs.”
According to the hospital, Irish has no formal training, but is a self taught artist who states that her inspiration is drawn from her grandmother, who has been her support and guidance throughout her childhood.
Caroline Crowell, director of volunteer services at Inland Hospital, said Irish “certainly has a sharp eye for detail with great ideas to produce beautiful work.” Some of the photographed scenes on display are fireworks, flowers, buildings and sunsets.
Amber Irish, of Sherman, said her granddaughter “is a tremendous artist and the photos are very interesting.” Cynthia is the daughter of Mike and Ruth Irish and has a twin sister Mindy.
