Who paid for school budget ad?

To the editor:
Somehow, I missed the mammoth full-page political ad (open letter) in the May 12th edition of The Star Herald urging readers to vote “Yes” on the MSAD 1 school budget. When another citizen brought it to my attention, I was so impressed with the sheer size I traveled to the paper’s office to find out what something like that would cost.

An advertising executive promptly calculated the total expense as $1,778.32. Although the notice assures readers “no taxpayer funds were used to pay for the publication of this notice,” it fails to give even a clue as to the identity of the generous organization or person footing the bill.
