Golfers encouraged to participate in
C.A.N.C.E.R. tourney

The Caring Area Neighbors for Cancer Education and Recovery (C.A.N.C.E.R.) Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, June 5, with a rain date of Sunday, June 6, at the Presque Isle Country Club. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Anyone interested in assisting this group of local volunteers raise funds for our neighbors in treatment for cancer, while spending a wonderful day on the golf course, is encouraged to register and reserve a cart by calling the PICC at 764-0430. The four-person format will have gross and net prizes for both men and women. The $200 entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, games with prizes, team mulligan, hot dogs, soda, and water. Hole number 8 will offer a $10,000 hole-in-one prize. The other par 3 holes will offer auxiliary prizes for a hole-in-one. Each team must have a minimum handicap of 40.
Registration forms are now available at the Presque Isle Country Club by stopping by or by calling 764-0430. Please make checks payable to C.A.N.C.E.R. and return to the PICC before Monday, May 31. All profits from the tournament stay here in Aroostook County, where “we are neighbors helping neighbors.”

The Mapleton Lions Club will host the annual Memorial Day Parade starting at 2 p.m. Following the parade, the Mapleton Lions Club, with the assistance of local veterans organizations, will honor all who served in our nation’s Armed Forces. A special remembrance ceremony will take place for those who sacrificed all to preserve this nation’s freedom near the flagpole in front of Mapleton Elementary School.
All veterans are welcome to attend this special recognition.
Organizations, businesses and individuals who wish to participate in the parade should contact Lion Steve Hanning (764-5170) to reserve a spot in the afternoon parade.
The Mapleton Daze Committee is planning its parade that will be held Saturday, June 26 at 9:30 a.m. Anyone interested in having an entry in the parade is asked to call Jolene Blake at 764-0980 to reserve a spot in the lineup.
The United Methodist Church will be hosting its weekly luncheon Friday, May 21 at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
The Mapleton United Methodist Church will host its weekly family night at the church Friday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. Come enjoy a free night of family entertainment!
