Kelsey Park, daughter of Jim and Jan Park of Presque Isle, was named the club’s nominee for the District 7810 Youth Merit Award. Each Rotary Club within District 7810, which includes clubs in northern Maine and parts of Canada, selects an outstanding senior from their local high school who best exemplifies the Rotary ideals of service, dependability, and leadership. In his letter of support for Park’s nomination, Principal Eric Waddell noted Park’s commitment to academics, her volunteerism within her school, community, and church, and her leadership with the National Honor Society and in the athletics arena as the keys to her nomination. She will study neuroscience at Colby College this fall.

During his four years of high school, Ackerson has been involved in the Student Council and serves as the president this year. He has also been instrumental in the success of the soccer and basketball teams at PIHS. Ackerson will be attending the University of Maine in the fall to study secondary education.

Carson is an All-Aroostook and All-State Choral student, and she is also a member of the varsity tennis team. Carson plans to study music education at Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn.
