LIMESTONE — Brevity seemed to be the theme for a short meeting of the Limestone Selectpeople last Wednesday.
In a short letter, former Selectperson Mary Morin submitted her resignation from the Board of Selectpeople. Morin was not present for the meeting and the letter did not include a reason for her resignation. She was elected last spring.     There are two years remaining in Morin’s term; the selectpeople approved a shortened nomination process for individuals wishing to run for selectperson. Applications are currently available at the Limestone town office and due back by Friday, May 21. The election will be held on Tuesday, June 8.
The president and vice president of the Greater Limestone Chamber of Chamber of Commerce, Scott Caldwell and Joe Lapierre, respectively, attended the meeting on behalf of the chamber and requested that the selectpeople appropriate $5,000 of economic development funds for the creation of new brochures highlighting the town of Limestone. The selectpeople unanimously approved the project and also authorized renewal of liquor licenses for the Limestone Country Club and the Rendezvous Restaurant.
During her manager’s report, Town Manager Donna Bernier presented the selectpeople with the previously requested bylaws of the North Woods Folk Art School and a copy of the school’s signed consultant agreement with Jessica Stackhouse. She also informed the selectpeopel that the town currently has two vehicles out for bid — a fire truck from the fire department and a dump truck from the public works department. The next selectperson meeting is scheduled for Wendesday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m.  in the Limestone municipal Building.
