Harry Hafford, fourth from left, president of the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery Association, recently accepted a $1,500 donation from Terrance Leavitt, department state commander of the Disabled American Veterans Association, to be used to purchase, ship and maintain a cemetery flag pole. This pole, from which one flag will be flown, amidst an anticipated 29 others will make up the Avenue of Flags gracing the entrance and driveway at the NMVC. Witnessing the presentation were Anne Leavitt, Jan Barr,  Don Pelkey, Jim Gehring, Clarence McLaughlin, Wendy Dunn and Diana Gehring. A complete article regarding the NMVC’s Avenue of Flags will be in next week’s edition of the Aroostook Republican and News.
