MAPLETON — A local man was arrested following a police chase on April 6.

“On Tuesday, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Trooper Todd Stetson attempted to stop a pickup on Route 163 in Mapleton for a traffic violation. The operator of the pickup refused to stop and a short pursuit ensued through secondary roads around Mapleton, with speeds reaching 80 mph,” said Sgt. Brian Harris, Maine State Police.
According to Harris, the pursuit ended when the pickup pulled into a driveway in Mapleton and the operator, identified as Douglas Gough, 41, of Mapleton, ran inside the residence.
“Trooper Stetson entered the residence and Gough was subsequently arrested for operating after suspension, driving to endanger, eluding an officer and criminal speed. He was transported to the Presque Isle Police Department where he posted bail and was released,” said Harris.
The investigation is ongoing and may result in additional charges.
Stetson received assistance from Harris and Trooper Shawn Querze.
No court date was available at presstime.
