For the second year, the Caribou Ecumenical Food Pantry will take part in the Feinstein Foundation Challenge to End Hunger. Shawn Feinstein, a Rhode Island resident offers to give away $1 million of his own money, in an attempt to end hunger in the United States. During the period of March 1 through April 30, participating organizations will collect food items and monetary donations. Each individual food item or pound of dry weight food is considered a $1 donation. The results are then sent to the Feinstein Foundation, which confirms the total and sends checks to each recipient organization, in return, based on the amount of money raised.
The Ecumenical Board of the Caribou pantry is busy collecting donations at this time from the members of their churches. Contributions are still being accepted at the following Caribou locations: The Holy Rosary Church, Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, Faith Lutheran, St. Luke’s Episcopal and the Unitarian/Universalist Church, as well as the Lidstone United Methodist Church in Washburn.
Monetary donations may be mailed to: Caribou Ecumenical Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1315, Caribou, ME. 04736.
Food donations can be dropped off during the Ecumenical Food Pantry on Herschel Street.
