Queens crowned in Fort
FORT FAIRFIELD — “Hoedown Throwdown” was the theme of this year’s Little Miss and Pre-Teen Fort Fairfield pageants held April 2 at the Lawrence Gardner Gymnasium. Sponsored by the Starlight Rebekah Lodge No. 82, the combined event featured 10 contestants and attracted several hundred spectators to the Fort Fairfield Middle/High School.
Winning the 2010 Little Miss Fort Fairfield crown, sash and trophy was Mariah Mink, the daughter of Michael and Mary Ann Mink. For her talent, Mariah dressed in a Tiger cheerleader uniform and danced to the Gwen Stefani hit, “Hollaback Girl.” She also earned the Highest Ticket Sale award and her sponsor was LeVasseur Backhoe.
Runner-up in the Little Miss competition was Brianna Michelle Reece, daughter of Teresa Prue and Michael Reece. She played classical melodies on piano for her talent and her sponsor was Campbell’s Redemption.
Also taking part in the Little Miss pageant were: Delaney Mae St. Pierre, daughter of Jonathan and Angela St. Pierre, who danced to the “Happy Working Song” and was sponsored by Acadia Medical Supply; Abby Young, daughter of Stephen and Kristen Young, who danced to “There is a God” and was sponsored by McGillan’s Inc.; Rachel Marie Milliard, daughter of Heather Winslow and William Milliard, who danced to “I’m a Believer” and was sponsored by Hillside IGA; and Hannah Spinney, daughter of Christopher and Tina Spinney, who sang “Teardrops on my Guitar” and was sponsored by I Care Pharmacy.
Isaac Fox, son of Christine and Ryan Fox, and Jesse Helstrom, son of Billy Jo and Kevin Helstrom, escorted the contestants.
Gracie Lynne Griffeth, who performed a ballet dance to Beyonce’s “Halo”, won the 2010 Miss Pre-Teen Fort Fairfield crown. The daughter of John and Kim Griffeth, she was sponsored by Griffeth Farms.
Miss Pre-Teen runner-up was Laura Woodman, daughter of Mike and Becky Woodman, who sang and signed to “Tomorrow.” She was sponsored by MMG Insurance Company.
Also competing in the Miss Pre-Teen competition were: Gabbie Wortman, daughter of Roland and Tammy Wortman, who performed a monologue with violin entitled “ Andantino” and was sponsored by Murchison Computer Sales; and Kayla Carmichael, daughter of Lynn Spence and Harley Carmichael, who did a dance routine to “Thriller” and was sponsored by Fort Fairfield Hardware.
Tyler Emmerson, son of Koralie and Richard Emmerson, served as escort for the Miss Pre-Teen contestants.
Peggy Campbell of the Rebekahs was Mistress of Ceremonies. Judges for the evening were Theresa Pelletier, Lynn Jackson and Jennifer Buzza while Rebecca Langley served as auditor. Serving on the Pageant Committee were Penny Johnston, Sandra Durepo and Campbell.
The 2010 Pageant Extravaganza continues on Saturday, May 1 with three more pageants: the Jr. Miss Fort Fairfield Pageant, the Miss Teen Fort Fairfield Pageant, and the Miss Fort Fairfield Pageant. Action begins at 7 p.m. in the Gardner Gym at FFMHS.
