LITTLETON — The Southern Aroostook County Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting a septic system training designed for Code Enforcement Officers, Licensed Plumbing Inspectors, Site Evaluators, Septic System Installers and Contractors.
This workshop will be held at the Meduxnekeag Ramblers Snowsled Club on Wiley Road in Littleton on April 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This course will be presented by the Division of Environmental Health, Subsurface Wastewater Unit staff, who will provide information on topics not addressed in detail in the Basic Onsite Wastewater System Installation session. The instructors will cover in detail how grades affect setback and separation distances; and treatment processes within an onsite sewage disposal system. The session will include a discussion of an investigation in the autumn of 2009 of a sewage-related hepatitis A outbreak. Installers, designers, and regulators should find this course particularly beneficial.
Six and one-half training contact hours will be awarded for attending this workshop and will apply towards recertification for L.P.I.’s and C.E.O.’s, as well as Maine Department of Human Services and Department of Environmental Protection Voluntary Certification Programs for Septic System Installers and Contractors.
The cost for the workshop is $75 (includes training materials, lunch, and breaks). For registration information please contact Southern Aroostook County Soil and Water Conservation District at 532-2087 x 3, or the Joint Environmental Training Coordinating Committee (JETCC) at 253-8020.
