    HOULTON – Richard L. "Dicky" Merritt, 53, of Houlton died April 1, 2010 in Bangor. He was born April 13, 1956 in Houlton, the son of Earle and Ruth (Welton) Merritt.
    He attended schools in Hodgdon and Houlton. He worked most of his life in construction and enjoyed doing so. He also liked spending time with his buddies Blue Eyes and Sassy.
    He is survived by two daughters, Taryn of Limestone and Cassie of Houlton; two grandchildren, Ethan and Aaliayah; his siblings, Millard of Littleton, Robert "Bobby" of N.H., Judy McCordic of Ludlow, Doug of Houlton, Roger of Hodgdon, Joan McCordic of Hodgdon, Marion Bisson of Millinocket, Marilyn Cole of Hodgdon, Tommy of Baileyville and Connie Merritt-McAfee of Houlton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeased by his parents and his soul mate, Delores Merritt.
    A private funeral service was held Sat. April 3, 2010 at noon with the Rev. David Tuttle officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bowers Funeral Home, PO Box 579, Houlton, ME 04730.
