On March 26, Mars Hill and Presque Isle got the tournament started, with Mars Hill pulling away with the victory 28-20. Mars Hill’s Alex Boulier let the team with 12 points.
Game two that day saw St. Agatha playing Ashland. Some hot shooting from the perimeter by Cody Cyr (10 points), and Chance Gervias (eight points) allowed St. Agatha to move on to the next round on Saturday.
Games started bright and early March 27 with Caribou competing against Ft. Fairfield. Josh Ricker was unstoppable, scoring a game-high eight points in lifting Fort to the victory.
The fourth game of the tournament saw Mars Hill taking on Easton, who drew a first-round bye. Logan Halverson of Easton put up 14 points in the game to carry Easton into the semifinals.
Game five between Washburn, who also enjoyed a first-round bye, and St. Agatha was played with Washburn picking up the win to advance into the semifinals. Derek Baker of Washburn could not miss, netting 18 points in the game. Jerrett Olson finished with 13.
One semi-final game was between Fort Fairfield and Easton, and what a game this was. Fort Fairfield made a huge come back late in the game to force overtime, but in the extra session, Easton’s Dominic Fredette scored a buzzer-beating shot to win the game, 22-20.
The second semi-final game pitted Madawaska against a tough Washburn. Washburn topped Madawaska by a score of 27-12. Again, Baker led the scoring with 12, followed by Olson’s 10 points.
In the championship game, Washburn came away with the 42-23 triumph over Easton. Baker’s 12 points again led the way for Washburn. Other scorers in the game for the winners were Olson with nine, McCall Turner with eight, Riley McGrath with five, Noah Caron and Riley McGrath with four apiece and Brandon Cropley with two.
An all-tournament team was selected, consisting of six players. The elite squad included Craig Gendreau of Madawaska, Josh Ricker of Fort Fairfield, Drew Sotomayor and Logan Halverson, both of Easton, and Derek Baker and Jarrett Olson both of Washburn.
