BANGOR and BREWER – Betty Ida Harris, 76, died March 17, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 6, 1934, in Mapleton, daughter of Maurice E. and Lizzie L. (Patten) Carter. She attended Mapleton High school where she was a cheerleader.
Betty worked at Thompsons’ Pharmacy as well as Pilot’s Grill for several years before it closed.
She is survived by her loving husband, Vaughn Harris, of Brewer; son, Jim Lovely; daughter, Debbie Brock; stepchildren, Vaughn Harris Jr., Wayne Harris and Debra Harris; several grandchildren, nieces and nephew; siblings, Arnold M. Carter, Winnifred Beaulieu, and Maxine DiPierro.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Judy Harris; brother, Merle “bud”, Raymond, “Bill”, Arthur and Kenneth Carter; sisters, Gladys Hughes, Myrtle Brown and Erma Williams.
A graveside memorial service was held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 25, at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie, with the Rev. Jerry Mick, pastor of Bangor Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements were by Memorial Alternatives, Bangor.
