set for Saturday

    MAPLETON – Mapleton will soon have two new queens to represent the community. On Saturday, April 10 at 2 p.m., the 2010 Little Miss and newly added title of Pre-Teen Miss Pageant will be held at the Presque Isle High School Auditorium. Six girls will be competing for the title of Little Miss Mapleton. They include: 

    • Taylor Ellis, daughter of Brian and Renee Ellis, performing a dance routine to Miley Cyrus’ “Hoedown Throwdown.”
    • Delaney Alward, daughter of Chris and Wendy Maple and David Alward, who will be singing “Maybe” from the musical “Annie.”
    • Abbigayle Quirino, daughter of Bert and Karie Quirino, performing a hip hop dance routine to “Start the Party.”
    • Elizabeth Collins, daughter of Darren and Michelle Collins, playing “The Entertainer” on the piano.
    • Paige McHatten, daughter of Matt and Kelly McHatten, has chosen to perform a jazz dance to “Swing with Me.”
    • Alexis Getchell, daughter of Rick and Tammy Getchell, who will be singing “On Top of Spaghetti.”
    The three fifth-graders vying for the new title of Pre-Teen Miss Mapleton are:
    • Lacy Condon, daughter of Troy and Bobbi Jo Condon and Rick and Tammy Getchell, performing an “Oooga Booga Boogie” and “Boogie Man” medley on the piano.
    • Marielle Shaw, daughter of Robert and Paula Shaw, will be playing an American folk song, “Red River Valley” on the piano.
    • Brittany Warner, daughter of Michael and Tina Warner, singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz.”
    This year, all Mapleton pageants are being sponsored by the student organizations at the Presque Isle Regional Career and Technical and Center at Presque Isle High School. SkillsUSA, FFA and FBLA students have participated in the planning process and will be taking part in various capacities during the day’s pageants. Tickets can be purchased for $6 from any contestant, or at the door. Combination tickets are also being sold for $10, which will gain entry to the Little Miss/Pre-Teen Miss in the afternoon and the Junior Miss, Teen, and Miss Mapleton pageant later that day at 7 p.m.
    Reigning queens, 2009 Little Miss Mapleton Jaidyn Blake, 2009 Junior Miss Mapleton Hannah Stoutamyer, and 2009 Miss Mapleton Paige McEachern will also be performing during the afternoon pageant. To purchase tickets in advance for either pageant, please contact the PIRCTC office at the high school at 764-1356.
