Image    Houlton High School’s Jobs for Maine Graduates (JMG) class, as well as the community of Houlton, steps in to help with the fight to save lives.
“Daffodil Days” is a program set up by the American Cancer Society where individuals are given the chance to purchase an assortment of daffodil related gifts with profits going directly to pushing for a cancer free future.
Over 3,000 people in Maine were assisted by the American Cancer Society this year. The American Cancer Society provides free Hope Lodging for cancer patients and their caregivers, transportation to and from medical appointments, pediatric summer camps, and more.
The fight remains strong with 63 million dollars currently invested in cancer research throughout New England.
Houlton’s JMG students, taught by Dee Bulter, are actively selling daffodil orders to help this needy cause. On average approximately 300 bouquets are sold around the community. Over 20 daffodil items were already sold within the school.
“We should be proud that our town and community are among the 12,500 Maine residents participating in fund raisers such as these making it possible for more people to become cancer survivors,” says Bulter.
Flowers will be delivered on March 23.
