Middle school teams ski to Aroostook County titles

    MADAWASKA – The Aroostook County Nordic freestyle middle school ski championships were held March 17, with 163 athletes representing eight schools from throughout the region competing for titles.

    In the end, it was Caribou capturing championships on both the girls and boys sides. Fort Kent and Presque Isle were second and third, respectively, among girls teams. Madawaska was the runner-up and Fort Kent placed third for the boys.
    Individually, it was Fort Kent’s Kelsey Pelletier claiming the girls title. She finished with a time of 13 minutes and 38 seconds. Ryan Washington of Caribou bested the large field in the boys’ competition. His time was 11:02.
