Caribou Middle School, Grade 6
In February 2010, students in grades five through eight at Caribou Middle School started reading the novel "The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan. The novel is about a boy name Percy Jackson who has been kicked out of multiple boarding schools multiple times, and is about to be kicked out again. He is a troubled, 12 year old kid who has encounters some mythical creatures lately. The novel is book one of the New York Time's #1 best-selling series "Percy Jackson and the Olympians". Critics say it's "packed with humorous allusions to Greek mythology. along with rip snorting action sequences, [this] book really shines" -The Horn Book. I have a feeling this school-wide read will be a huge success. The real question is, what other school-wide reads does Caribou Middle School have in store?
